During the third Coffee with Simpl session, held on 9 July 2026, the focus was on the latest developments of Simpl-Open Gdynia Release, alongside updates from complementary initiatives including updates from the DOME Marketplace, Simpl-Labs, and Simpl-Live’s Language Data Space (LDS). The session combined technical updates and programme presentations, highlighting how the Simpl ecosystem is evolving to support trusted, interoperable, and reusable data-sharing services across Europe.
The session opened with an interactive survey. When asked what they had found most difficult to learn about Simpl so far, the largest share of respondents (39%) pointed to a lack of implementation experiences and practical insights from other participants, while the technology itself and where Simpl is heading in the coming years were each cited by 22%. Most attendees (63%) said they had first learned about Simpl through friends and colleagues, and the majority (64%) reported already working directly on it today, reflecting a community that is increasingly hands-on while still eager for more practical examples, shared experiences, and visibility into what comes next.
The main presentation introduced the Simpl-Open Gdynia Release, showcasing a range of new capabilities designed to strengthen data management, interoperability, and governance across data spaces. Highlights included Data Orchestration, which enables reusable and automated workflows, Data Processing services for data transformation, analytics and visualisation, and Vocabulary Management, supporting semantic interoperability through the controlled creation and evolution of vocabularies. The release also introduces new governance, monitoring and data quality capabilities aimed at supporting trusted and scalable data operations.
Beyond these core capabilities, the release introduces value-added services, reusable templates, advanced analytics, AI-enabled processing, and demonstration environments, designed to shorten the path from data publication to trusted, reusable data products. The session also covered developments across the broader Simpl ecosystem. Participants received an update on the integration between Simpl-Open and the DOME Marketplace 
, which aims to improve the discoverability and accessibility of trusted cloud, edge and AI services by connecting federated service catalogues while allowing each ecosystem to retain control over its own assets and governance model.
Simpl-Labs presented the latest activities related to the programme’s sandbox environment, including the launch of the User Interest Group (UIG). The initiative is designed to actively involve stakeholders in testing new capabilities, sharing feedback and helping shape the future evolution of Simpl-Labs, providing participants with an opportunity to contribute directly to the development of the platform. The session also featured an update from Simpl-Live on the Language Data Space (LDS). The presentation outlined ongoing work to federate LDS with Simpl-Open through a gateway-based, non-intrusive integration approach. Starting with an initial Proof of Concept, the integration is expected to demonstrate how domain-specific data spaces can leverage Simpl capabilities while maintaining their own operational independence, laying the foundation for broader interoperability across the European data space ecosystem.
Together, these developments show the Simpl ecosystem continuing to evolve towards a modular, federated, and interoperable platform, with the Gdynia release strengthening its technical foundations, and DOME, Simpl-Labs, and Simpl-Live extending its reach across European data spaces.
At the end of the session, we also reminded everyone about the 3rd Simpl Annual Community Event 2026, taking place on 10 December at SQUARE, Brussels Convention Centre, and warmly encouraged all participants to join and be part of this special event.
Looking ahead, the strong interest expressed by attendees in practical examples and real implementation experiences reinforces the importance of knowledge sharing across the community.
