A new Specific Contract under the Simpl Framework Contract was recently awarded to InfrateX, the consortium led by Sopra Steria with NTT DATA.
Starting in November 2025 and running for 30 months , this contract will focus on extending the current scope of Simpl-Open development to enable the following features:
- Offer new Simpl-Open AI and Machine Learning (ML) capabilities:
- Simpl-Open should enable data spaces to execute their AI workloads in HPC compute and data resources deployed in AI Factories and available by means of the EuroHPC federation services. This implies that the Simpl infrastructure connectors and data services layers will be expanded to connect to EuroHPC federation services.
- In addition, Simpl PaaS Machine Learning Services should be extended to integrate ML workloads specifications supported by EuroHPC federation services.
- Furthermore, Simpl-Open will be broadened to include a set of pre-built AI services directly usable by Simpl-powered data spaces. These services will replicate those currently offered by popular cloud providers and will be developed based on open-source models, for which deployment will be automated for inference on the data provided by the data space. The AI services should at least consider the following categories of services: Generative AI and Large Language Models, computer vision, data anomaly detection, automated data extraction and analysis.
- Enable the connection between Simpl-Open and DOME Marketplace (the European Cloud Marketplace):
- For data spaces to have easy options to use the new Simpl-Open AI services, this contract will enable the publication of Simpl-Open AI services in the DOME Marketplace instance catalogue.
- Enable Simpl-Open users to access the services, applications, and data available in the DOME Marketplace catalogues. This will enable data spaces to use DOME curated cloud offers.
- Monetise the activity of Simpl-Open’s governing authority: for data spaces to be sustainable, it is important that all actors are properly rewarded for their efforts, including the governance authority.

After a first phase of analysis, the team will dive into the development, which will follow the same process than the core functionalities: being Open-Source and eager to receive contributions from the community.
